December's Monthly Make!

Firstly a very happy New Year to all our lovely followers and subscribers to New Forest Sewing Studio, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year

.

For December 2022 I made the 'Jensen Shirt' by 'Wardrobe by me' in our Denim Chambray Cotton Hemp Fabric and also a cotton/linen mix fabric from my fabric stash.

The Jensen shirt is a traditional relaxed-fitting button shirt with a yoke and collar with collar stand. The sleeves are cuffed and the hem is curved and slightly longer at the back.

The sleeve's have a pleat at the cuff with a house and slit.

The body of the shirt is constructed using the burrito method so as all seams are neatly enclosed within the yoke.

The collar is secured by stitching in the ditch giving a very neat finish. I also applied a label - always a nice finishing touch to your home made garments.

Finally button and buttonholes are applied - and you have a very professional looking men's shirt any husband, dad or friend would be proud to wear!

So moving forward to 2023 I shall be making the Thayer Jacket by Grainline Studio in our gorgeous 12oz Brushed Organic Cotton Twill Fabric. I aim to do this as a video recorded sew-along - to be the first of many I hope.

Happy New Year and Happy Sewing!
